MMFT

Hey, my name’s Jake.

In the last twenty years I’ve been a songwriter, traveling performing artist, tour manager, sales and marketing professional, and now a counselor. I know what it feels like to chase big dreams, and I also know the pain of watching some of those dreams not turn out the way you had hoped.

More than ten years ago, I lost my left leg in a traumatic accident that turned my life upside down. As I recovered and re-gained heart I felt compelled to create a space for others needing rest and recovery from their own trauma. That vision has become Field House Counseling.

I’ve experienced firsthand how trauma impacts not only the body, but also a marriage, friendships, and especially a relationship with God. Living with limb-loss has taught me about grief, resilience, and hope — and more importantly, it’s given me a passion for walking with others who are navigating grief, loss, and transition.

If you’re a researcher and have already googled some counseling terminology, you’ll find that I’m person-centered, emotionally focused, and narrative-based. Said more simply, my goal is to create a safe space where you can connect with yourself, know your story, and find the strength and resilience you need to keep going.

I’m especially drawn to the following:

  • Men’s Issues

  • Pre-Marital & Couples Counseling

  • Grief and Loss

  • Relationship Issues

  • Spiritual Issues

  • Vocational Discernment

  • Living Authentically

To me, the Field House symbolizes a third space where those journeying can retreat to rest and recover. Because we all need a place to slow down, catch our breath, and get clear on our next steps.

Reach out if you’re ready to find your next steps.
